What is the great north sales force and what do they do
The Great North Sales Force is a global sales recruiter headquartered in the North-East of England. They operate with over 2000 offices and 40,000 employees all around the world. The Great North Sales Force are one of the leading employers for graduates from public and private universities in England. They are the largest independent sales recruitment agency in Europe and the second largest in the world. The company was founded in Manchester in 1791. Throughout the years the company has expanded and now they are at 40,000 employees and have over 2000 offices all around the world.
This is potentially a very interesting story, with several aspects to it that I’m not sure how to address in a short space (exposing it is good, possibly as a poignant anecdote at this point).
(1) I’m not sure that the Great North Sales Force has ever been fully publicised, or described. It’s a very well-kept secret, precisely because of its success (which is why in many ways it deserves to be kept a secret). But its unconventional structure and leadership seems to have attracted interest in certain circles. So I question whether it should really be named here at all. Is that really the issue? That’s a judgement call.
How did the great north sales force come to be
The Great North Sales Force was founded in 1992 by two graduates from Newcastle University. Both Mandy and Jon had become disillusioned with the limited prospects of the public sector: To quote Mandy, “The public sector as a career was highly over-subscribed and offered very little opportunity for growth”. With this in mind, they started up the Great North Sales Force to provide young graduates with a way to work for themselves. Mandy made the positioning statement “We are the sales force that turns potential into potential”. They claim that they can provide an income and career opportunity by matching candidates with employers who would benefit from the skills they have acquired at university.
Mandy had previously worked in sales at the University of Newcastle and knew a lot of graduates who were struggling to find their first job. Jon had graduated in Finance and IT and was working for British Telecom. This gave him an insight into the recruitment process and he realised that there was a need for an alternative approach to recruitment.
What are some of the challenges faced by the great north sales force
The Great North Sales Force are a global force and they face many challenges when they go to recruit sales people. One of their biggest challenges is the knowledge that they are representing a recruitment agency. They have to be able to show their candidates that they can provide them with career opportunities and work to improve their skills. Candidates also want to know that there will be a career plan for them and this is something else that the Great North Sales Force have to show when they are trying to recruit. The other challenge is the competition for talent. There are so many agencies out there trying to recruit and there are many people looking for work in this area, which makes it more difficult for the Great North Sales Force to get candidates on board. The Great North Sales Force has to show that they are different from the other agencies. They have to be able to deal with the challenges in an efficient way and make sure that their candidates get a good deal for their money. The way that the Great North Sales Force have been able to overcome the competition is by focusing on what the candidates really want, which is the benefit of their careers and making sure that they don’t just get a job but a great career.
