What is ambition and why do people pursue it
We all want to be successful but the price tag is high. It can take over our lives, control our thoughts and be detrimental to relationships. But if we don’t pursue it, we may miss out on life’s significant opportunities. How do we find the line between being ambitious and being consumed by it?

We all want to be successful. It starts in kindergarten. As soon as we finish coloring our pictures and eating our paste, we’re told that the work is due tomorrow; those who don’t finish will not get a sticker or a gold star or some other prize. That’s the first time we learn about consequences: good and bad. Those who don’t get their work done will not be rewarded.
Not only do we want to excel, but many of us want to stand out from the crowd. We want to be the one person who has no homework, does the best in class, has the most attractive friends and gets a good grade. We want it all.

The cost of pursuing ambition, including time, energy, and money
The cost of being ambitious can take a toll on you and your life. You can sacrifice time with family and friends, get bogged down with work or miss out on vacations. The pursuit of money can be a big distraction from the most important things in your life. The price tag for ambition might include:relationships work commitments money time health relationships
The Cost Of Ambition
Every decision you make has a cost. For example, when you spend time with your children, there’s a cost in terms of the time you’re not spending with your boss. Or, when you attend your child’s soccer game on Saturday, there’s a cost in terms of the business opportunities you miss. Your relationships with friends and family members can help your career, but they also cost you something.

How to manage the cost of ambition and still achieve success
Just because you’re ambitious doesn’t mean you have to be consumed by it. You can manage the cost of ambition to be successful without giving up everything else in your life. Balance is key, but it’s something we all must work toward. To manage the cost of ambition:1. Know yourself 2. Set boundaries 3. Work smarter 4. Change your mindset
Know Yourself
You have to know who you are before you can achieve your goals. And there’s only one way to know yourself: spend some time alone. You don’t need a fancy retreat or a trip to Bali. Just find 1-2 hours a day where you can relax, breathe and reflect on where you want to be, who you want to be with and what you want out of life.
It’s easy to lose yourself in the daily grind and chaos of life. It’s not uncommon for entrepreneurs and business owners to work around the clock, neglecting everything else in their lives. And when you don’t know who you are and what your goals are, it’s easy to lose yourself along the way.

All of us have a subtle urge to make our lives longer, richer and fuller. We want to do more, feel more and experience more. We want control of our lives, which is what we think the overuse of work would give us. But it has the opposite effect on most people because they never really stop long enough to enjoy what they already have or even appreciate that they have it. Most people simply want more and more of the same.
1.Be mindful
There is a strong argument to be made that it is the balance of things in life that makes us happy, not any particular extreme that we are attached to. Even some of the richest and most successful people have found themselves unhappy despite having everything they desire. They have tried to make things happen, not be one with life.
