Comparison between other online drawing tools and Sketch.io/Sketchpad/?
Sketch.io is an online drawing tool. It allows for the creation and sharing of creative work via the web. By comparison, other similar tools like Google Docs or Adobe Ideas are much more limited in functionality and are only available offline. Other tools include Balsamiq Mockups (Web-based design tool), doodle.com (doodle based sketch tool), and open office on a Macintosh (free desktop-based program). You can even use a program such as Microsoft Word to create sketches and then upload them to Sketch.io. The video below shows how sketch.io compares to other online drawing tools:
Sketch.io allows you to create a wide variety of drawings from a blank page, and can be used on a desktop or laptop computer, or even mobile devices like tablets and smartphones. While not as full featured as a program such as Adobe Photoshop, Sketch.io provides more tools necessary for the creation of high quality work. The free version is limited to 2 pages and 20KB of storage (photos and video cannot be uploaded), but additional features are available if the user purchases additional layers that cost $10 per month.
Sketch.io allows for the user to create with pre-loaded styles, but users can also create their own custom styles to suit their needs. As well, Sketch.io allows users to upload and share their own images and video using the “upload media” tool, while other related tools such as Apple Photos can only display uploaded images – and only after the user has first uploaded the image to Apple’s servers.
Sketch.io is also available on mobile devices, and even on tablets, though most people will find it works best using a desktop or laptop computer. Sketch.io also allows for the user to create teams and invite people to work together as a team. Cross-platform compatibility allows the user to access their account from any device they choose, whether iOS or Android powered mobile device, desktop or laptop computer.
