What is intensity in art and how is it used to create a desired effect or emotion in the viewer/reader
Intensity is the use of emotional intensity which is the intense feeling of a high emotional state. It can be between two characters, within one character or used to portray a mood in an entire story. It helps to create higher levels of excitement. The emotion must be conveyed through dialogue and action, not just feelings.
What does intensity mean in art?
Intensities can be created in art by showing or telling. It can be conveyed through expression and action rather than just words alone. Intensity is important because it helps to create a feeling of high emotion within the viewer/reader.
Artists use intensities combined with other specific techniques to create a desired effect or emotion in the viewer/reader. For example, a painting of a waterfall is more intense because it has so many details. It shows the power and force of the water coming down, flowing over rocks, and creating ripples on the surface of the water.
How do different mediums (painting, sculpture, photography, etc.) use intensity to achieve different results
In the medium of photography, for example, you have a certain amount of light. You have a certain amount of time in which to take that picture. And if you’ve chosen the right location, then the viewer will be able to see it through the camera’s lens. The emphasis is on creating an intensity by accepting and leaving out things that are not important to achieve your artistic objective and letting only those things or parts of images stand out that are absolutely necessary. All the other elements that can’t be controlled are actually discarded. And the photographer’s decision whether to include or discard is crucial to the success of the image. You have to accept things that are given and leave things out that are there.
Some famous examples of intense artwork throughout history
In the art history of painting there are some examples of photographs which are very intense. For example, the photograph called “The Raft of the Medusa,” by French photographer, Gericault. It’s considered a masterpiece not just because it is a historical work about marine disasters and also because it left out all non-essential elements in the storyline. It showed just the most important elements of the storyline such as the distress in the boat. The bodies of men lying on this raft. It’s very intense and emotional because it makes the viewer experience a sense of immediacy, which is similar to what Gericault himself went through to witness this real life drama.
Another example of intensity in artwork is the painting, “The Kiss,” by Gustav Klimt. It’s a painting which is very intense in emotion and it’s composition. The composition of this painting is not entirely realistic because Klimt was not a fan of realism. “The Kiss” was painted with many symbols which represent the nature of love and relationships at that time; including flowers, vines, and butterflies. This painting also has many beautiful colors such as hot pink, light yellow and gold, blue, green and red. The painting even has a beautiful golden glow. All of the colors come together to create a beautiful and intense composition.
Contemporary artists who are particularly known for their intense work
I think the painters that are very active in today art circles and who really push the boundaries of what is considered normal are maybe the expressionists. There are painters like Mark Rothko whose paintings were quite large and very intense, even though they were made on relatively small canvases. He used primary color combinations and almost band-aids to cover the canvas. These paintings were meant to create a certain level of intensity because they didn’t have any space left within themselves. He felt that it was necessary to remove any unnecessary space so that the viewer could only focus on these primary colors. These are the kind of storytellers and artists who really push the boundaries with intensity.
IVAN KUCHUKHOV:
Ivan Kuchuhkov is a Russian artist who makes very intense paintings. His work consists of highly saturated colors and he paints with a thick brush, distorting his figures and objects. In his earlier works, the figures on the canvas are stretched out, being bent or twisted, as if they were made of rubber. He said that he was inspired by pop art and other popular forms of art. He did not consider his work to be realistic or ideal, and instead described the figures as grotesque and twisted. Kuchuhkov’s paintings are not just always simple, but they have another side to them. They show some kind of a monotonous theme, such as a remote house in the countryside or a decaying corpse. The painting often only depicts one color, like red, yellow and black.

The effects that intense art can have on the viewer – both positive and negative
The highest level of emotion is one that is bittersweet. A kind of sadness that comes from learning about the loss of the hero’s death or the devastating effects of war. I think you often have to look at the highest levels of intensity and see how they combine both positive and negative emotions – like if someone was hurt in a car accident and you show them recovering, but then you also show them as they were before or after, as far as how they were living and where they had been living. The viewers can go through the same process of experiencing both at the same time, which is a very powerful thing.
