Introduction to Smart Wi-Fi Optimum
Smart Wi-Fi is a way to automatically optimize your home’s broadband network to reduce the time it takes for video and audio content to stream in HD and for gaming. It can also help you get the most out of your current speeds and make sure your signal doesn’t drop out. The service is available for Optus residential and business broadband customers.
A smart Wi-Fi router automatically analyses your usage and applies the appropriate settings to help you get the best possible experience from your broadband service.
The Smart Wi-Fi features can be accessed through the Wi-Fi hub on optus.com.au or by calling us on 1304 OPTUS (1300 768 87).
When using Smart Wi-Fi, Optus can check your home’s location against a global database of Optus customers to determine which features are best suited for you. This helps you get the most out of your connection without having to tweak settings manually.
Smart Wi-Fi features include:

The Smart Wi-Fi service can be disabled through your home’s wireless modem. The wireless modem broadcasts a network SSID with the name of the smart Wi-Fi service included in it. This can be disabled by following the steps below.
1. Log into your modem and choose your wireless network to change its name.
2. Click ‘Advanced Settings’ and then click on ‘Service Settings’ on the left pane until you find the Wireless Smart Wi-Fi service in the right pane.
3. Under the Wireless Smart Wi-Fi service, click on the blue bar labeled “Disable” at the top of that service entry. The Smart Wi-Fi service should now be disabled.
4. Click on “Save” to save the changes you made and any pending connections should be disconnected.
** Note: If the Smart Wi-Fi service remains enabled, this will prevent you from disabling it through your modem. The only way to completely remove the Smart Wi-Fi service is to follow steps from the NVIDIA Support site (see below).
As of July 8th, 2016, there is no known method for disabling this by another device other than your modem itself. Please note that this method may disable the Smart Wi-Fi service even if you have other devices such as a set-top box connected to your modem.
