Overtype in Chrome allows you to overwrite a misspelled word without having to delete it and retype the correct spelling. It doesn’t work with files, or anything else that Chrome doesn’t recognize as a text box.

Most computer users take the default setting for overtype in Chrome and it types over the top of any text they are typing, even letters they delete. Some users find this annoying and prefer to type without overtype in Chrome. This article will show you a quick way to turn off overtype in chrome.
To turn off overtype in chrome, follow the steps below:
1. Go to chrome://extensions/

Note: If you see an icon with a pound sign ( ) next to it, click on it, it is an extension that allows typing without overtyping.
3. Next, click on the Chrome menu icon (three horizontal bars in the upper right hand corner of your screen) and select settings.
4. Click “Show advanced settings” at the bottom. In the privacy section, click “Content Settings” under “Privacy”.
