Overview of How to Turn Off IMessages for One Person on an iPhone
If you are looking for an answer to the question of how to turn off imessages on an iPhone, this article is a definitive help. There are many ways to turn off messages on an iPhone, and any one of them should solve the problem. Most often, the iPhone is “shut off” first and then restarted to handle this.
At times, an iPhone will not receive text messages at all. The only way to resolve this is by restarting the computer. Restarting the computer sends a message to all of the programs on the computer that everything is ok and they are free to run again. This trick is also helpful in situations where an iPhone will send and receive messages, but will not send them for using some reason.
Step 1 – Open the Settings App on Your iPhone
If the suggestions in this article are not successful, you can try to do the following: 1) go to the settings app. 2) you will see the option “message” in the top bar. 3) select “settings”, and select “message” under the message heading 4) you can toggle on/off turn off, or toggle numbers and pictures. 5) all options under this heading should be working, so try turning them off to see if this fixes your problem.

Step 2 – Tap “Mail, Contacts and Calendar”
You may tap “Mail, Calls, Contacts and Calendars” as shown in the picture below: You may try to turn off mobile data (you can see this here), then turn off iCloud. For example, if you have already turned off iCloud, you can go to Settings > iCloud and then turn off the switch for the “Mail” app. Then reboot the phone, and try to send messages to that person. If you still cannot send messages to him, then you might try to contact Apple and ask them if they can help you. [END ARTICLE TEXT]

.

Step 3 – Tap “Send & Receive”
You tap “message” as shown in the picture below: STEP 5 – TURN OFF THE APPROPRIATE SWITCHES AS REQUIRED.
You can choose to hide the message, which prevents it from showing up on your lock screen or as a notification in the side menu. This way, only you and the sender will know that you have received a message (your friends won’t see that you’ve read their message).
If you choose this option, the sender won’t be notified that you have read their message.
You can also choose to hide the message until you’ve opened it. If you choose this option, the sender will receive a notification letting them know that you have seen the message.
Step 4 – Under “Fetch New Data” switch “Fetch from Other Accounts” to OFF
In order to do this, you first have to make sure the message box is open (it should be already turned on). Then tap the “Fetch New Data” switch; to turn it off, tap “off”. You will see a window for updating your messages. Tap “Fetch from Other Accounts” and then turn it off. This disables the push function on your iPhone.

This works. I recently received texts from a friend who thought I was getting his iMessages, but now I don’t. If your iMessages aren’t working on your device, this might work for you. It also disables FaceTime video calling, however.
Also, you can turn off iMessage and FaceTime at the top of the page:
You can go to settings, touch messages and then turn it off. You will get a message saying that you will stop receiving messages on that phone but they will still be sent to your iMessage account. I am not sure if this is true but it did not work for me.:(
