How you can identify unknown Bluetooth device? This is where the Bluetooth Manager comes into play. You can have Bluetooth Manager running on your computer. If you are using Windows 7 or above, you may have to download the latest version of the Bluetooth manager for it to run properly.
With the Bluetooth Manager, you can find the information such as manufacturer name and product model. You may also get to know the serial number. Some people who have bought their devices online have never seen the device. With that information, you can easily ask them for the device’s identification number (ID).
If you are using Mac computer, no worries, since Bluetooth manager is included in Mac OS X Mavericks and later versions. You just need to launch Bluetooth manager and search for unknown device.
Your Mac device that you want to identify should have Bluetooth enabled. Some Mac computers do not have Bluetooth technology.
First of all, you must know what kind of product is Bluetooth-enabled. To find out, check the label on the product or ask the seller or the manufacturer of the device. For some devices, you may need to check for their website to find out more information about your product.

First you must have a Bluetooth Manager running on your computer. It is called the Bluez and it is a Linux Bluetooth stack for your computer. If you are using Windows 7 or above, you may need to download the latest version of Bluez for it to run properly. You can get it here: http://www.bluez.org/downloads/
Next, run your Bluetooth Manager. It should look something like this:
To scan for devices, click on the Scan button. If you know the bluetooth address of the device (e.g. 30:F2:50:EE:CA:D9), you can put it in the box and press ‘Start Scan’ to find that device (the boxes are optional). To search for a set of characters in the name/address, you can use * as a wildcard character.
In this case, I used the * as a wildcard and searched for 30:F2:50:EE:CA:D9. It found a device called ‘Parrot’, but that is not the name of my bluetooth device (which is ‘Monster’).
Now that Bluez is installed, you can run it by going to the Start menu and selecting All Programs >> Bluetooth >> Bluetooth Manager. When the window opens, you will see a button on the top left hand corner of the window that says Scan for devices. Click on it. This will search for any Bluetooth devices in close proximity to your computer and display them on the window. From here you can click the device you wish to connect and click on Connect.
You should now be able to use your Bluetooth devices with your computer. If you have problems or need more information, try visiting the Bluetooth FAQ’s, or the Linux Bluetooth How-To page. If none of these help, it is probably a hardware or configuration problem.
