What to do if your avast full virus scan gets stuck at 30%
Most of the time, this error occurs when you are trying to scan a big file. Such as over 160mb in size, or when you have a lot of files and folders in your system. If all you have is one document or one item, it should not give you this error. The reason the error occurs is because your avast antivirus software cannot load all the information from that file or item.
Please follow these steps to fix this problem :(Do not try it on any other folder or file):
1. Now you need to just go to “on-access scan”. Don’t select all files, folders and archives. So just search for all the items and then press the “Run scan” button.
2. Your whole system will be scanned instantly, but if it gets stuck at 30%, restart your computer and make sure you have already scanned before letting the computer restart.
3. Do not try the same file again, because sometimes you may end up with the same problem.
4. If your system gets stuck at these steps, and it doesn’t get un-stuck in your computer, then contact a Technical Support Specialist from www.avast.com and don’t do the scan again.
5. Have a nice day. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 : )

How to fix the issue and complete the scan
There are 2 ways to solve this issue. The first one is to manually put in the scan information. If you have only 1 file, you can open it and edit its settings. To do this, open your avast antivirus software and click on [Start]. Click on [Settings] then click on the [Scan Settings] button. There will be a button opening a window that says [Scan Settings…]. Click on that button and then in the box that opens, there will be a list of available settings for your document scanner. Select the [Scan] and the scan will begin. For more info on how to edit a file’s settings, please click on our blog post .
The other way is to restart the scan and there will be a prompt asking if you want to replace the files. Once you click on “Yes” , then it will continue the scan.
If there are more than 1 file, it will be easier to just delete them all and then rescan them. Open Avast and go to [File] > [Delete] or press Ctrl+A on your keyboard, then select all your files and right click on them. Click on [Delete] . After that, go to [Scan] > [Scan Type] > [Full scan]. Your computer will restart the scan from scratch. Please note that the files you deleted need to be re-scanned so you might have to wait for a few hours for them to finish scanning.

Reasons why your scan may have gotten stuck in the first place
If you know your antivirus software, then you might have known that the scan may have gotten stuck on some type of error. Some of them are: 1. Your antivirus software is not fully updated. 2. Your antivirus software doesn’t have enough memory to scan a big file. 3. You have many files and folders in your system that are not yet scanned by your antivirus software. If you know all about the problems above, then you do not need to read this article anymore, because it will be too long for a simple problem like this one . When your antivirus software is not fully updated, the scan will just not run. If you want to update your antivirus software, then you can check it by clicking on the antivirus software’s update link on their website or by searching for a new update on [Google]. You should contact the support people of your antivirus software and ask them to update it for you. Usually updating is free, but sometimes there are some additional fees for doing so.
