What is Samsung Dex and why would you want to disable it

The Samsung Dex is a new software feature that can be enabled on any Samsung Galaxy S8, Note 8, and newer device. It’s designed to work with any monitor or TV that has an HDMI port.
In general, we recommend using the Dex only if you want to use your smartphone as a desktop replacement for productivity purposes. Otherwise, there are better ways to manage your phone-to-TV streaming experience (Slingbox for example).

How to disable Samsung Dex on your device
In the Settings Menu, go to “About Device”, and then tap on “Build Number” until you see a pop-up stating that you have become a developer. On the next screen, you will see “Developer Options”. Tap on it and then scroll down until you find “Dex Mode”. Turn this off and enjoy your life again!
Dex mode is a nifty new feature in the Galaxy S7 that allows you to use your phone as a desktop computer with the help of a monitor, USB keyboard, and mouse. However, if you don’t need that level of convenience and prefer your phone to be a smartphone, then there is a way to disable Samsung Dex on your device.
The benefits of disabling Samsung Dex on your device
Now you can finally use your device as a phone again, instead of as a laptop or a desktop. The reason why this is such a great idea, is because when your device is connected to the external display, it won’t let you do anything on the touch screen itself. It will disable all touch functionality, which means that you can’t answer phone calls, send texts or use the phone functions etc.
Samsung Dex surely has some great features which I’ll touch on later. But first things first, let’s have a look at some of the cons for disabling Samsung Dex.
The shortcomings:
● You won’t be able to use Samsung DeX anymore. One of the biggest features for Samsung devices is to turn it into a desktop or laptop alternative.
● You won’t be able to do anything on the touch screen. In order to use your device as a laptop or desktop, you have to connect it to an external monitor or projector. If you don’t want any issues with your Samsung device, you better disable Samsung Dex as soon as possible.
● You won’t be able to log into the cloud storage anymore. If you have an account with Samsung, then you need to log on a desktop or laptop and use your cloud storage. If you don’t, then you won’t be able to do it with the tablet.
