What is rs on Xbox controller and what does it do
The “RS” button is the button on an Xbox One controller that stands for “R2,” meaning it’s the circle button on PlayStation controllers, as well as the “R-trigger” on Xbox 360 controllers. It’s the button that activates a secondary attack on top of the character’s primary attack. There are some games that use it differently, like the “infinite combo” mode in Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat X.
When it was first created, the “RS” button was used on both PlayStation and Xbox. Microsoft’s firmware added a secondary attack to make it easier for players to use, but because the Xbox One uses PC (short for “personal computer”) architecture, including the “RS” button on each controller can turn into a disaster for console gamers.
Let’s say you have a character that uses the “RS” for a power attack. On PC, the button would not default to the “RS” because it’s not used on PCs. The button is used for “Home,” which brings up Steam, or it can be configured to bring up your web browser, or you can set it to do nothing at all.

How to enable/disable rs on Xbox controller
To enable/disable RS, you would have to use an app called “Controller Companion,” which is available on Microsoft’s official Xbox website. With this app, you would be able to remap buttons, create macros, and in general make the controller easier to use.
Here are the steps for doing so:
Launch the app. Press Tab to expand the main menu. Select “Device and Features.” Select “Controller Settings.” From here, you’ll be able to disable/enable RS/start as well as remap buttons. To disable or enable RS, simply turn on or off the two checkboxes. After saving all of your settings, you can exit out by pressing B and then select “back” using the left stick.
To actually re-enable your RS, you would need to use the same steps again. The advantage of this is that those who want to enable RS can now only do so via the app instead of having to go through Xbox settings. Those who don’t want RS can simply turn it off by doing the same sequence and then launch the app again.
