Blocking calls on an iPhone is a feature that allows you to restrict certain phone numbers from contacting you

Using the volume up button, you can block a specific number from text messaging or FaceTime you on your iphone. This can be helpful if you’re receiving unwanted calls or texts from a particular number. Here’s how to block calls on iPhone:
How to Block Calls on iPhone:
Go to Settings > Phone and tap Block Contact. Enter the number of the caller that you wish to block and select Block this Caller. After you block a number, it will no longer be possible to send you text messages or make calls through FaceTime. You can also unblock numbers by following the same instructions above. Tap and hold a contact, then choose Edit from the menu that appears. Tap the phone number you would like to unblock. When you finish editing, tap Done at the top right corner of the screen.
NOTE: As with many phones, you cannot block thousands of numbers at once. You must manually block any callers that you don’t want to receive text messages or calls from.
So, that’s how to use the volume up button on an iPhone to restrict calls, block numbers and unblock them.

To block a number on your iPhone, open the Phone app and go to the Recent tab

The screen will show you all your recent calls. Find the unwanted number and tap on it. Then hit info and scroll down to “Block This Caller” and tap on it. Then scroll down to “Block This Caller” and enter the number in the “To block a number on your iPhone, open the Phone app and go to the Recent tab, then find the unwanted number in all your recent calls”.
Tap on “Block This Caller” to confirm your decision. Tap outside of this section of call blocking options again to confirm that you want to block this person.
You will not receive any calls, messages, or FaceTime calls from them. You can also enable the Do Not Disturb feature that’ll send anyone calling you to Voicemail. Note that if you do this, you will still be able to receive calls from any of your emergency numbers.

Swipe left on the number you want to block and tap Block this Caller

The screen will show you the number of times it has called and the duration. You can select “Never Call Me Again” or “Call Me Only Once”. If you tap Never Call Me Again, then the number will not be allowed to call you at all. If you tap Call Me Only Once, the number will only be able to call you once and then they’ll never again.
I personally hate waiting on the phone so I like to block many people as often as possible so that at least after two or three calls they’ll stop interrupting me. With Facebook, Twitter and Texts all cluttering up my notifications, these few tips will come in handy.
After you save your settings, if the new person calls again, you will be taken to a separate notification (the first time it happens you will see their name next to the number). From this notification, you can then go into your settings and do the above process again.
I’ve made a couple of discoveries that may be helpful. If someone keeps calling you and you don’t answer after a certain number of times, it will eventually give you an option to call them back. The number that does this is the one with “Unknown Number” at the top level of your list of numbers. (That is, if a number you don’t recognize keeps calling you, at some point it will give you the option to call them back.)
