Introduce Hero Lab and what it does
Hero Lab allows players and GM’s to create and edit character sheets, custom content, and share or publish their work on the Hero Lab website.
The program is created by Lone Wolf Development, and was first released in 2007.
Hero Lab has a similar feel to the d20 system which allows for greater accessibility for players and GM’s wanting to use this RPG system. Hero Lab also has a gigantic library of ready-to-use content including Quests, Characters, Creatures, Weapons and Armor.
What does Hero Lab do?
Hero Lab allows users to create and edit custom content such as character sheets or creatures with the program. The program also allows users to easily share their content with other players or GM’s when the user has the resources of a website.
After creating the custom content, it is then uploaded to the website. Other users can then play with and edit your work. For example, a GM can add soldiers for their players to use in combat and other minor events.

Hero Lab currently contains all of the basic character sheet functionality and has some additional tools for advanced users. Hero Lab has many of the advanced features in the free version; this includes character sheets for all of the Pathfinder Player Character classes, monsters, spells and items. It also contains a total of 9 character levels worth of Hero Lab’s content.
Hero Lab offers many expansions of the free version’s content, such as an Advanced Player Character Sheet, GM Tools and the Marketplace (accessible to those with the Full version, or with a Hero Lab license). The Hero Lab Advanced Player Character Sheet completes the character sheet by adding several advanced features. The Advanced Player Character Sheet includes a section to track special equipment and enhancements, an expanded equipment section and many other features.
The Hero Lab GM Tools are available as an expansion to the Advanced Player Character Sheet and are designed for Game Masters.
The Marketplace is a feature that allows users to download various content packs (such as character packs, NPC packs and creature packs) that contain additional characters, monsters and creatures to use in the game.
