What is Glassdoor and why should you use it as part of your job search process
Glassdoor is the world’s most popular jobs and company review site. It provides a free, anonymous way for employees to anonymously evaluate their work experience. Based on these reviews, we show users how well companies pay based on salary data from Glassdoor, how well they are rated by employees (based on ratings and reviews), how easy it might be to get hired there (employed as recently as 1-3 months ago) and the employee’s likelihood of recommending the company to a friend.
Top key takeaways for Glassdoor users
1) View salary and benefits info for companies by job title and location to determine what salary you should be aiming for. 2) Search the open jobs at these companies to see if they match your skill set. 3) Read the reviews and rating on these companies by current employees. 4) Look for companies with a high rating when it comes to “employee happiness” (meaning how likely it is that employees here would recommend the company to a friend) and “employee satisfaction”. 5) Search for companies with jobs you are interested in by location, then filter based on salary. For example, you could use our search tool and search only companies near your city. Then filter the job titles where salary is less than $50K and more than $100K. 6) Look at the employee rating(s) and reviews to see if a company has a great reputation.
