What is a substance designer and what does he do

In the world of design, there are three types of designers: graphic designer, industrial designer, and fashion designer. The first type is a “graphic” or “visual” design person who creates the computer-generated imagery for companies like Apple. The second type is an “industrial” or “technical” designer that designs buildings, cars and other structures that are intended to serve a functional purpose. The third type is a “fashion” design person who designs clothes and accessories for people. While all three types are considered to be designers, each has its own set of skills that it needs to have in order to perform its duties.
Industrial designers are considered to be the most versatile type of designer because they have to have an understanding of technology, engineering, and how to make things look good. On the other hand, fashion designers do not need technical skills but do need some understanding of what people will buy and how it will sell. So in this respect, graphic designers are in-between both industrial and fashion designers. Graphic designers can create products but are not expected to know about the inner workings of their creations beyond the aesthetics. Graphic designers also do not have to know how to create a brand and how to market their products. In fact, graphic designers can design the packaging of their creations without even knowing what is inside.

How is this different from being a painter

OR A SCULPTURE CREATOR? When compared to any of the other types of design, “substance” design is a unique type. If a sculptor creates an object out of clay, then that object is considered part of sculpture, and if that sculpture is then sold for money (and on occasion displayed in museums), then it becomes an art piece. However, if a painter creates a painting not for the purpose of sale and display in museums, but for the purpose of displaying it on personal projects or even for sale on sites like Etsy, then that painting becomes design.
It is a very thin line between art and design, and the line was only recently redrawn with the inception of the “new” digital design. Once upon a time, digital design was simply computer aided drafting (CAD), which specialized in buildings and machines. Designers had to make a difficult choice to either practice their craft as traditional designers (carpentry, painting, interior design) or become CAD specialists. The former takes time, and the latter provides instant gratification in the form of money. The result is that, once upon a time, there were very few designers in the world, with the exception of architecture and industrial design. Now there are an overwhelming amount of designers with very little one can do to distinguish them from other “designers” who use computer assistance for their projects.

What type of education and experience is needed to be a substance designer

Many of the design disciplines require formal education and apprenticeship, which is why many designers have no other choice than to go to art school to learn their craft. However, a substance designer does not have anywhere near the amount of educational requirements or time it takes for other types of designers. A substance designer does, however, need a lot of experience. A substance designer must always be aware about what he or she is doing at all times and not just copy something that looks good on the computer screen. Unlike other designers, a substance designer cannot just create something at random and expect it to look good. A substance designer must know what the technology is capable of, and how to use it in order to always provide something that was not there before.
Whether or not a substance designer is well versed with the concept of science, the substance designer may have limited knowledge in biology, chemistry and physics. Designers who specialize in textiles don’t necessarily have to be good chemists as they are interested in dyes, colors and other properties found in natural fibers. However, a substance designer must be able to understand how the subatomic structure of natural compounds work in order to be able to manipulate materials that can achieve the same results without needing to use actual biological compounds.

What are some projects that a substance designer might work on

A substance designer might work on a lot of projects, but the main ones would be creating the visuals for an upcoming video game, creating the textures for a new 3D creation program, or developing an app that runs on smartphones that allows people to paint on its surface. A substance designer may work on any project that requires the use of “substance” so long as he or she is allowed to be creative. Even though substance designers are not called upon to make something that moves or can be useful in the real world, they do have their hands tied quite a bit. The creator of the content for a video game, for example, will have to create the substance for everything except for the game’s characters, background, and any features that are based on existing things. A substance designer usually has to design the “substance” that figures or groups of figures will wear in order to appear realistic.
Another type of project that a substance designer might be involved with is creating new textures for an application that runs on your smartphone (like a paint program). In this case, the substance designer would be creating a substance that will allow the user to paint on a surface. The substance designer is also responsible for creating new substances that are not as common as other substances like cloth or paper. A substance designer is usually not involved with anything except for developing the visuals for an application that runs on your smartphone or other device in this case.

How much money can you make as a substance designer

The money that a substance designer makes will depend on the type of job he or she is doing. The larger the project, the more money he or she will make. If a substance designer creates textures for a video game, they can make around $50 an hour, while working on an app could earn them $100 to $1,000 depending on the amount of time put into it. If a substance designer creates content for a digital media company, then they could earn nearly $10 an hour. In general, if a substance designer creates content for the purpose of displaying it and selling it on sites like Etsy or 500px, then they will make anywhere from $25 to $50 an hour depending on how much effort was put into the work.
It is difficult to know how much a substance designer makes until they are well established. The pay can range anywhere from $10 an hour to $100 an hour depending on their location, their experience and the type of work they are doing. If a company hires a substance designer to create textures for a video game, it will be more than if they were creating textures for an app.
