There are essentially four types of memory which are RAM (Random Access Memory) which is volatile and used to store data but instantly loses data whenever power is lost, SRAM (Static Random Access Memory) is used for non-volatile data storage, PRAM (Primary Random Access Memory) where program instructions are stored and DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) where the micro-processors store information. Of the four types of memory only DRAM is used for random access and the data can be stored, transferred and retrieved within a fraction of second that in today’s market describes as nanoseconds!
