What is Control M and what does it do

Control M is a great new mode for Windows that gives you control over the way your mouse moves on the screen. You can use it in any application and in any window as long as you don’t need to select text or click on objects. It’s perfect for games. Control M is always “on,” but you can turn it on and off using the Control M On-Off button. It sets the Windows mouse pointer speed to a level that is faster than your mouse’s lowest setting, but slower than your mouse’s highest setting. With Control M on, when you move the mouse quickly across the screen, there is no delay between the time you move the mouse and when your mouse pointer touches the screen. In fact, Control M makes your mouse act more like a joystick than a mouse.

Benefits of using Control M

Control M can help reduce the strain on your wrist and hand, prolong the life of your mouse and provide better control of your pointer. Depending on how you’ve set Control M speed, you’ll get between 25% to 50% more movement options. Control M often reduces the use of magnifiers or trackballs, so it’s great for people who are visually impaired. Control M can also help you to work more quickly because you’re working with a smaller set of visible mouse pointers, so finding your target is less challenging.
If you’ve lost function of a hand, Control M can allow you to continue working and earn money by scanning or keying. You’ll have more control over your work flow, which will help reduce the time you spend on extraneous tasks and help to ensure banking accuracy. AbleMatrix
Control M can also help control repetitive strain injuries (RSI) by redistributing pressure from your wrist as well as reducing accidental wrist movements. If you have carpal tunnel syndrome or have been diagnosed with a repetitive strain injury, Control M can help reduce pain and help you to continue to work.

How to set up and schedule tasks with Control M

If you set up Control M to start automatically when Windows starts, your mouse will be in Control M mode every time you use it. To schedule the Control M On-Off button , just click on the Start menu and find the Control M icon. Right-click on that icon and select “Create Shortcut.” Now you can place this shortcut wherever it will be convenient for you to access.
Note: If you do not see the Control M icon on your desktop, it is possible that your Control M icon is set to a different location. In Control M 2.5, click on Tools > Options, then select the Start Menu tab and look at the Location of Command Prompt option which will be under On-Off Button. This path is set by default to \program files\controlm\controlm.cmd but you can change it if you want to keep command prompt shortcuts in a different location. If you want the On-Off button to appear on your Windows Start menu, you need to select the Control M Classic item.

Tips and tricks for using Control M more effectively

If you need to use Control M for a little while, it’s easy to turn it off and then turn it back on when you’re finished. Simply press and hold the Control M On-Off button until the mouse pointer speed returns to normal. If you want to set the pointer speed back to Control M mode, just press and hold the Control M On-Off button for two seconds. The Control M On-Off button is located at the bottom of your screen, in the area that has been reserved for it. This is a system tray icon and it will be grayed out if Control M is in use.
If you want to return Control M to its default state, where it doesn’t keep the mouse pointer speed in any particular mode, simply press and hold the Control M On-Off button for two seconds. This will remove Control M from your system tray or taskbar, and it will reset it to its default state.
In addition to the button, you will see a pop-up window if Control M is active. To close this window, simply click on Exit . This will return Control M to your system tray or taskbar so it can be used again later.
If you want to change the control modifiers for your mouse, simply double click on the Control M In-Off button. Windows 7 will search for each Control M modifier, and it will enable them as soon as it finds one that meets your criteria. If you want to disable a modifier, simply click on it again until it is grayed out.
