The firm was founded by Allan Abbott and Edmund M. Stringham on December 1, 1911. By the time they closed in 1998, their client list included major pharmaceutical companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb and The Wellcome Foundation; medical device manufacturers such as Medtronic and Boston Scientific; and biotechnology firms like Genentech and BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. In addition, the firm worked with some of the biggest law firms in San Diego and Los Angeles.
