Introduce the reader to the resume writer
Hi, my name is Carrie and I’m an engineering manager. My experience includes six years of experience in the insurance industry—consulting with clients to provide assistance in risk mitigation, technology procurement, and data analytics. I have a strong technical background—I graduated from the University of Florida with an undergraduate degree in computer science. I’m now pursuing an MBA at Widener University in my spare time. I really enjoy coaching, so I’m teaching a math/science/technology workshop at an elementary school close to my home every Sunday. I look forward to discussing this opportunity with you further.

Outline the writer’s experience and skills as a software engineer manager
I currently work for National Insurance Company (NIC) as a software engineering manager. In this role I manage a team of five engineers and I provide consultation to the business to help them optimize their technology. My team’s responsibilities include all aspects of the software development life cycle. We develop new features and applications, as well as maintain existing systems. I manage a team of engineers who focus mainly on two main areas: new features and application development. In the new features area, I develop software that assists our clients in reducing loss and fraud in their business. In the application development area, I handle projects that involve custom interfaces and web applications to allow our clients to better serve their customers and maximize the success of each transaction. All of my projects are analyzed, discussed, and prioritized by a team of managers. I am constantly looking for ways to improve the efficiency of all areas of our business. The company expects me to be a senior member of the team and provide leadership in each area.
Over the years I have developed a sound knowledge and understanding of both software development life cycle and the process involved in maintaining existing applications as well as designing new software. I am able to provide support in all areas related to these processes. I have developed a method of managing a programming team that helps keep the team focused on their most important tasks. I work well as a member of a team that includes managers and project administrators.
Discuss notable projects and accomplishments while working in this role
My engineering team is currently working on a web application that will increase efficiency in our clients’ business processes. We are developing a system that allows clients to access their data directly from their mobile devices. The system will be responsive, so it can be used on any mobile device. This will allow clients to access pertinent information by updating their details in real-time. The system will also be compatible with a network of secondary data sources, so clients can access information from other sources. We are in the process of building the front-end portion of this application, so that the client can place orders, update account balances and address details, and receive notifications. The backend part will be developed shortly thereafter.
Currently, 26% of our company’s business comes from clients with over 100 employees. Those clients are very excited to have access to information on mobile devices. This system will be the first of its kind in Canada, and will certainly shift the way we work with our clients.
