What does a build engineer do on a day-to-day basis
A build engineer is someone whose job it is to design, integrate, and test software throughout the course of a product’s development cycle. They are responsible for assisting in the entire build process, including understanding the product requirements and development team requirements before beginning their work. The build engineer is responsible for understanding the software development process to ensure that the correct build version of the code is able to be built and tested, while also ensuring that all of the necessary changes are made and tested. When changes are made, the build engineer ensures that those changes are properly integrated into the existing build. The build engineer also ensures that all unit tests are correctly completed, and all of the pre-release builds that have been created are reviewed and signed off by the appropriate level of management.
