What is GoDaddy/cp and how do you use it to manage your website domains and hosting account
Godaddy is a website hosting company offering a range of services to webmasters and developers. These services include domain registration, website hosting, SSL certificates, DNS settings, email marketing and one-click WordPress installations. However, domain name management and hosting account management are two of the most commonly used services. So far we have only covered the server-side functions in this article. This is a follow-up to our original guide on managing your website domains and hosting account using GoDaddy/cp.
Domain management
Domain management is one of the most critical services that you need to be able to take care of. As a webmaster, you will probably face many problems related to your domains, but the most important is not to change them all at once and not to change them for every new project. For this reason, Godaddy enables you to create as many management profiles as you want.
How to create a new hosting account with GoDaddy/cp
If you want to create a hosting account at Godaddy, you need to submit an application. This can be done by filling out this form or going straight to https://godaddy.com/on-line-applications/. By following the instructions on this page, you will be able to save up to $20 per month (more with an Amazon gift card) by using the Amazon Payments account and Godaddy’s exchange rates. After you have completed the form and verified your payment method, we will be notified to create the hosting account. Once the account has been created, you will be able to add as many domains, so you can create as many websites as you want.
When creating your hosting account, you need to choose an email address and a billing address. After filling out these details, you will be notified with an activation code that will allow you to transfer the domain from your current web host to GoDaddy. Once this is done, you will be able to create the website and manage the hosting account at GoDaddy. If you haven’t already done so, create a free Amazon Payments account in order to receive a $10 gift card.

How to transfer your domain name to GoDaddy/cp
Assuming your are the owner of the domain name, you need to sign in and then click on “Manage Your Domains”. On the next page, you will be able to select the domain name from a drop-down menu and then click on “Move to this Domain Name”. You will now see a page with two options: “Transfer Now” (or “Transfer Later”) and “Do not transfer”. If you choose the first option, you will be able to fill out the form with the relevant details of your domain name and then click on “Transfer Now”. You will be able to confirm the transfer through the “Verify this Domain” link beside your new domain name.
If you choose the second option, you will have to transfer your domain name through the “Transfer Later” option. This method is much slower, but it gives you more time to think of an alternative name for your domain if necessary.
While this is how to transfer your domain to GoDaddy/cp, there are some other similar stories about GoDaddy/cp where people had a bad experience with them and then chose another registrar.
The most common complaint is that GoDaddy/cp will hold the domain name hostage so that they can charge their customers more money. This implies a lot of trust on GoDaddy/cp’s part. If they are not to be trusted, you would want to transfer your domain from them (to another registrar) as soon as possible and get rid of them.
The registrar you choose will make all the difference. You may not be able to transfer your domain name to GoDaddy/cp or any other registrar, but there are many other reliable ones like NameCheap that you can choose from.
How to set up email addresses for your website
Once you have transferred your domain to Godaddy/CP, you will be able to view the default email addresses of the domain and click on “Add a new Address”. On the next page, you will be able to add an email address for the webmaster (if applicable) and then click on “Save”. You can now click on your website name (e.g. [fill out name or use first letter of website] ) in the left-hand column and enter your email address into the entry field before clicking on “Done” and then “Submit”. You will be able to confirm the email address through the “Assign this Email Address” link beside your name.
