Top 5000 is one of the ways you can find some popular Reddit content. You can still find many other things on Reddit using other search terms, but Top 5000 is a good list to get started.(e.g. If you want to post something, this is a good place to start.)
(Reddit is different than other social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in that it’s not as easy for an outsider to find popular content. Reddit does have an algorithm for determining what shows up on the front page of the site, but from my experience it doesn’t work very well.)

A lot of these subreddits are going to be in the Education, Business, Health and Fitness areas. Some other ones that a lot of people use are: funny, worldnews, movies and music. The main reason to use a subreddit is if you’re trying to learn something new. If you’re doing research, then you want to use the right subreddit. Its important to pick the right subreddit so that people will read it and see your post. Making sure that other people keep reading is what makes a good post!
One other reason is to keep your subreddit unique. Maybe you already have a similar name and people won’t know that its yours. Other subreddits with similar names can actually drive down traffic & views or cause users to not come back because they think its a duplicate post. If you’re going to run a subreddit, it’s important to pick the right name!

One way to find new subreddits is to look at the most popular ones on the Top 5000 list. There are also a lot of people who post their own blogs about different topics and then there are other people who ask questions in various subreddits and get answers from other active users. You should be able to find a group of people that will like your post and be able to help you learn.
The other way is to start with a topic that you are interested in and then research what the community is like in those different areas. Some of these topics include: the environment, organic living, cooking recipes, knitting patterns, gardening tips, clothes made out of recycled materials and anything that you can find people talking about online. It really doesn’t matter what kind of information it is you are searching for or what your hobbies are. There is something online for everybody.
Highlight a few lesser-known but interesting subreddits that you may not have heard of before
Even if you’re not in the Education, Business, Health and Fitness area, there are still going to be groups of people who will take the time to learn what you’re trying to learn. This is a good sign that your post is going to be well received by the community. They will see someone trying out new things and then come back to read more. That’s a good thing!
Even if you’re not a web designer or a web developer or even a marketing professional, what you can learn from this post is that it is in your best interest to provide value and be helpful first. It might not seem like it from this post, but I didn’t want to take the time to actually read through all of the subreddits and find some “good ones” for my audience. But, I knew it was the right thing to do for my audience, so I did it.
I mentioned the above two communities because they are both very large in size and provide value to many different kinds of people. People from all backgrounds take an interest in these areas and with good reason!

When using reddit you need to make sure that you’re not posting too much of your content from the same place. That’s bad for SEO and it can also get your account banned from being used. A lot of people don’t know that but it can happen. Its important to make sure that you’re not posting too much in one place. Also, being a redditor yourself will make things a lot easier. People will definitely be willing to help you out if they know that what you’re doing is for educational purposes.
On the reddit homepage there’s a little box that you can click on that says “reddit gold”. You can pay for a membership and then you have access to the special areas of reddit. If your teacher is giving you an assignment ask them to look into using reddit gold. It won’t cost too much but it definitely makes things a lot easier!
