What is RPG Maker VX Ace Bust Generator and what does it do
A bust generator is a tool available in the RMVXAce RTP that helps the game creator to easily generate female characters with alternate bust sizes. Its intended purpose is to help game designers create busty, mature and seductive avatars for their games. But the Bust Generator is more than that. It comes with a unique set of animation events, and includes two player selectable version for creating high quality busty characters.
Some of you might know this tool as “Instant Bust Generator”, in which case you are welcome to call it that. Other will just call it Bust Generator and consider it a bust add-on. This is just the way I like to understand it, but in any case the name fits very well both ways. So, everything that follows is depending on whether you consider this tool as an RTP or as an add-on to RMVXAce RTP and what it can do for you.
How to use the bust generator to create custom character portraits
Here is where it gets interesting. You start a bust generator by selecting the Make Bust option from the main menu in RMVXAce RTP. You can then set the bust size and type of bust you want to generate and voila – instant busty character! If you really have a problem with breast size, you can always choose a “Large Breast” option and ignore the other options. If you want to get more creative, however, you can set the bust size to (for example) – “large chest”, “normal breast”, “small breast”, and even turn on the “Big Breasts” option. You will then have some more options available to change and customize your bust size. You can also choose the type of bust that will be generated. For example, you can select the “Breastless” option to create female characters with no breasts (like the young girls from the RPG Maker game “Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch”), or you can choose “Double D D Cup” to create characters with large breasts.
Once you have selected the bust size and type of bust that you want to generate, click on the button marked Sketch Bust to begin your artwork. It is recommended you START a new page in RMVXAce RTP. You can then draw the bust around your character to make the final sketch.
All the options that are available for selecting on the RMVXAce RTP menu will be displayed on the sketching area. You can change any of these settings including:
Size of Bust : The size of your bust, with (for example) “Bust Size – Big” going up to “Bust Size – Giant”.
Breast Type : You can choose to make your bust “Normal Breast”, “Large Breast”, “Small Breast” and even “Big Breasts”.
The benefits of using a bust generator over traditional character portrait creation methods
If you are a game developer who has used traditional character portrait creation methods, you’re probably aware of the pitfalls that come with it. For example, if a game designer makes a busty character using the traditional method and runs the game on an iPad 4 for iOS7, its portrait will look funny. The reason is simple: A busty character made with traditional methods will look correct only on devices that have screen resolutions that are the same as its portrait. If the portrait is created for a retina display, it will look funny on an iPad 4. The Bust Generator does not have this limitation, because it generates a bust at a resolution of 256×256. The Bust Generator’s busts can also be used on smartphones and other mobile devices that have different screen sizes and resolutions.
Traditional character portrait creation methods have their own merits. If you use them, you don’t need to use a bust generator, which saves time, effort and money for game development. However, for the following reasons (among others), the Bust Generator is the better choice for game developers:
*The Bust Generator is free and open source. If you like it, you can contribute to its development.
Tips for getting the most out of RPG Maker VX Ace Bust Generator
If you want to use the bust generator for your main characters, one of the things you need to do is to “hide” its default portrait from appearing with other portraits. To do this, create a new event and write an entry for it in the standard event list:
Now the necessary portrait will not be selected by default and if you use another portrait it will not be overwritten. To use the bust generator as a fixed portrait, create a new custom event and write this in the descriptor:
