A Platform Engineer is usually in charge of managing the infrastructure for a company and making sure that it can handle all the changes. This is to ensure that it can handle the necessary load of users and jobs at the same time without causing any errors, downtime or slowdowns.

The platform engineer usually needs to have in depth knowledge of multiple technologies, as well as experience with setting up and managing large scale applications and databases. The skills and experience required to be a successful platform engineer
Most of the work you will be doing is coding on a daily basis. The job requires a lot of programming knowledge and experience, working with some very powerful systems. You will be responsible for writing code to manipulate data, manage systems, and write modules that interact with other modules on the system. This position will require you to have practical knowledge of Linux, databases and systems like MySQL in order to make fixes and add functionality whenever it is needed. The position also requires you to have a good understanding of network systems and some experience with networking. You will be responsible for the smooth running of the site so you will have to make regular backups, fix bugs and inject new functionality.
The main things required of you are: Good knowledge of database systems, Linux and networking. You should be able to use Perl, Python or shell scripting on a daily basis in order to develop modules that interact with other modules on the system. This position requires you to have at least 1 year of experience in Python, Perl or shell scripting.
You will also be expected to be able to:
Understand and develop modules for the site. (This may involve developing code for multiple modules) Debug and fix bugs in all the modules that interact with other software on the system. Develop and maintain a CMS, which will be launched with our platform in September 2010. Develop modules and deploy them on the platform. Facilitate the growth of the site by developing the required modules and deploying them on the system.
