Why you might need a VPS
In order to have a fully functioning website, you need a hosting account. The minimum requirements for this are a server with an IP address and web-enabled portability. A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is the perfect solution because it provides the same functionality as a dedicated server, but is much more affordable and accessible. It’s also an excellent choice for people who want to set up their own shared hosting package without going through third party contracts or recurring fees. A VPS allows for nearly unlimited customization because you have the ability to modify your server settings. By way of example, if you want to use a different web server or host more domains than your initial plan allows, you can easily make these types of adjustments without having to switch from your current provider.
Registering your own VPS is the most inexpensive option for hosting a website. Companies like DigitalOcean, Vultr and Cloudways offer a fundamental cloud-based server that can be customized to suit your needs. You can create a website on one of their servers for as little as $10 per month. If you want to host multiple domains, you can purchase additional web hosting plans for less than $20 per month. The best part about choosing your own VPS provider is that you have the freedom to choose whatever level of server performance you require, depending on the amount you’re willing to spend.

How to set up a VPS with GoDaddy
The first step is to go to the Godaddy website and click on “VPS Hosting” on the left side of the screen. Once you do that, you will be able to choose between 2 packages: “VPS1” and “VPS2”, which both come with 1 GB disk space, 40 GB bandwidth and IP address. The major difference between them is that VPS1 only allows the creation of 2 vhosts and 25 domains, while VPS2 allows the creation of up to 10 vhosts and 100 domains. The price for the VPS1 is $6.49/month, while VPS2 costs $7.99/month.
The next step is to choose your payment method (PayPal or Credit Card). I chose Paypal because it’s the easiest way for me to transfer money from my Paypal account to my bank, as I don’t use credit cards. Then, after you entered all the necessary information, you will have to choose the name of your server. In my case I chose “MyVPS” as that is one of my websites I am currently working on. If you choose a name that is already in use, Godaddy may assign it to someone else and you will be unable to change its name.
Once your order is confirmed, it will take some time for them to set up your VPS. I received an email confirmation with some information about my account and how to manage it. You can access your VPS by clicking on the “Access Control” link on the left side of the screen when you login at Godaddy.
You will be shown a page that appears like this:

What to do after your VPS is set up
Once your VPS is set up and it’s ready to go, you should first find the email address from which you made the purchase. It should also be noted that all VPSs come with a 30-day money back guarantee for any reason, including, but not limited to, server malfunction and technical issues. If you do not like your VPS, you have 30 days to cancel your order and get a full refund. It’s also important to note that most VPSs come with 24/7 customer support and a very responsive staff. As soon as you receive your order confirmation, you may reach out to the customer service representative. Usually, they are very receptive to all questions and concerns and ready to help you 24/7. If you are interested in changing your VPS’s operating system or transferring your server, no worries! Just contact the customer service and they will be glad to help. To change the operating system on your server, just send a request and a member of the technical support team will handle it for you. [END ARTICLE]
