EU Council publishes conclusions on health in the digital society

On 8 December 2017, the European Council adopted conclusions on ‘Health in the digital society - making progress in data-driven innovation in the field of health’ (the ‘Conclusions’), which were put together by the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (‘EPSCO’). The Conclusions identify areas of concern in the European digital health sector and outline actions to be taken to address them. Piet Weinreich, Counsel at Osborne Clarke, provides his views on the Conclusions and the state of digital health in Europe as Bulgaria takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union from Estonia.
