Amendments to the Audiovisual Media Services Directive

On 6 June 2018, the European Parliament approved a trilogue political agreement amending the EU’s Audiovisual Media Services Directive 2010/13/EU (‘the AVMS Directive’); the key legislation governing the regulation of media services in the EU. The European Parliament Culture Committee’s draft text amending the AVMS Directive (following the trilogue political agreement) was published on 13 June 2018 (‘the Proposed AVMS Directive’). John Enser, Partner at CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP, provides insight into the newly Proposed AVMS Directive, and the impact the amendments could have for relevant digital businesses.
