Singapore: Enforcement trends of the Personal Data Protection Commission

Since the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (‘PDPA’) came into force on 2 July 2014, the Personal Data Protection Commission (‘PDPC’) has published a total of 58 data protection enforcement decisions, which set out the enforcement action taken by the PDPC against organisations and the factors and considerations taken into account by the PDPC in coming to its decisions. In this article, Chong Kin Lim, Director and Head of the TMT practice at Drew & Napier LLC, comments on the enforcement decisions to date and the developments in data protection law in Singapore generally.
