International: A catch up with Latin America

2017 was an important year for data protection in Latin America. While some countries issued data protection amendment bills to modernise their laws, others restructured their data protection authorities. With 2018 sure to be another year to watch, Teresa Espinosa, Senior Associate at Basham, Ringe y Correa S.C., provides a comparison of data protection laws in Latin America, with a particular focus on Argentina, Colombia and Mexico, and offers her insight into some of the important developments that occurred in the region in 2017.
